THE GRAPHICS AND FINE ARTS SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP
Presents a Two-Part Program
Saturday, October 1 in the Jemez Room of Santa Fe Community College
In the First Part 10:00 to 11:30 AM
Photographer and Digital Artist - Leah Siegel: Curves, Filters and Surprises
In this part Leah will be giving a one-and-one-half hour presentation of her methodology in creating photographic images and non- representational drawings. While she will not reveal all of her secrets, she will demonstrate a variety of her favored manipulations, mostly using Photoshop.
Leah Siegel: Background
Leah's photographs and drawings map interior and exterior landscapes, actual and mental terrains. She uses techniques of intense looking and a vocabulary of personal marking developed over 25 years experience in the production of film, video, photography and digital media.
The photographs explore narratives and myths of landscape, reading the topography as a text that tells tales of time and culture. Completely non-objective, the drawings are concerned with mapping and the desire for wholeness, for a universe striving for completion. Leah's professional experience has been primarily in film and video production. In New York City she owned a video production company, which produced a variety of award-winning programs. She has taught film at Long Island University and digital media at New York University and Santa Fe Community College. In addition, she's been exhibiting photographic and digital art since receiving a Master's degree in Photography at NYU/ICP in 1989. Leah's work is in private collections as well as in the New Mexico Capitol Art Foundation Collection, where digital drawings are on permanent display.
Part Two - 11:30 to Noon
PhotoShop Q&A
Bring your PhotoShop Questions and have them answered by a panel of Northern New Mexico's best PhotoShop experts!
The Santa Fe Graphics and Fine Arts Special Interest Group meets in the Jemez Room of the Santa Fe Community College on the first Saturday of each month, from 10:00AM to Noon.
