............. SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
PRESENTATION: This month Robin Williams will be presenting an introduction to OS X:10.4-Tiger.
So if you have upgraded already, you’ll hear how to get the most out of our new operating system. If you haven’t upgraded yet, you hear why you should. One lucky raffle winner will be taking Tiger home with them, so please pay special attention to the feeding and handling section of the presentation.
***Editor's Note: Do you design websites? Create slideshows, music or movies,? Do you edit photos, write books, or design homes? Are you plotting the stars, working out the cure for cancer or hunger? Are you putting the final touches on your free energy invention? No matter what you use your Mac for, sharing how you do it will inspire others to new levels of whatever they us their Mac for.
Let one of the SFMUG Board members know and we'll help you tell your story to the group.
...................... RAFFLE
This month's raffle items are tied to our very special presentation of Mac OS X Tiger by our very special presenter, SFMUG's very own Robin Williams. And what could be more appropriate than... your very own copy of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger?! For the low price of a $2 raffle ticket (or less if you buy more tickets), you could be the proud owner of Tiger, a $129 value!
Also on the raffle list are one or more Robin Williams/ John Tollett books from Peachpit Press, an iTunes gift certificate, and a CD with not one, not two or three, but *ALL FOUR* Take Control Ebooks on Tiger, a $20 value.
<http://www.takecontrolbooks.com/tiger-customizing.html>
Plus, because I'm feeling particularly generous (and because they were free anyway), everyone who attends the August general meeting and asks me will receive a free pocket card from Apple entitled "Tiger Tips Mac OS X v 10.4"!
It doesn't get any better than this! :-)
Ed. Of all the duties connected with the SFMUG, the raffle chairman is always under a lot of pressure to provide interesting gifts to be raffled. Steve Zappe works hard throughout each month to find worthwhile material for the raffle and we all appreciate his contribution.
Your purchase of raffle tickets allows this organization to raise necessary funds in support of our outreach programs.

***Making Your RSS Feed Look Pretty in a Browser
As more and more non-techie websites offer syndication feeds, a growing
number of non-technical readers are clicking on the links and filling
their screens with confusing XML. But syndication content doesn't have
to look like geeky markup or malformed text in your readers' browsers.
You can make it look quite pretty and give clues about what the feed is
actually for. Ben Hammersley, author of "Developing Feeds with RSS and
Atom," shows you how.

The release of Mail 2.0 was largely overlooked amid all the fuss about
Tiger's system-level features, but a number of people have made public

has improved, but the apparent willingness of Apple's designers to
create an entirely new kind of toolbar icon just for use in Mail has
irritated some. Giles Turnbull shows you how to bring happiness back to
