SANTA FE MAC USER GROUP NEWSLETTER April/May 2005*** SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS ***
SFMUG UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT
The results are in and SFMUG has a new Board, President and Vice-President.
Elected to the new Board were Sue Herman, Brett Goldberg, Vint Miller,
Steve Zappe and Giuseppe Quinn. While Bob Ayre and Marylee McInnes
remain, serving second years of two year terms. At the April 14th Board
meeting, the newly elected Board selected Giuseppe Quinn as President
and Lynn Roylance as Vice-President. I welcome new Board member
Sue Herdman and Brett Goldberg as I look forward to a very creative year for SFMUG!
As the Newly elected President I want to thank Joannie Gulino, our departing
President, for serving SFMUG and it's members this past year. I also want to
thank departing Board member Bob Everett for serving on the Board last year
and his continuing service as G&FAsig Chairperson.
Now, I would like to ask each of you to think about what being a member of SFMUG
means to you now and what you would like it to mean. Then, ask what you can do to
help make that happen. If you have any suggestions let the Board know and then
volunteer to help make it happen. If you have less time than a fly, any constructive
input is welcome ;-) There are about 165 very talented, knowledgeable and creative
SFMUG members, please pitch in and help make SFMUG a more effective, vibrant
and useful group. Bottom line, I want, need and encourage you to be an active part
of our Santa Fe Mac User Group.

PRESENTATION: This month's presenters was Adam Engst
Macintosh author, editor, publisher, and pundit Adam Engst will
provide a three-course meeting, starting off with his top iPhoto 5
tips and tricks, focusing (heh!) particularly on how to manipulate
photos with iPhoto 5's new Adjust Panel. Next up will be a discussion
of how people can evaluate their wireless security needs and which
approaches to wireless security are worth using. And finally, Adam
will talk about how the new Take Control ebook series is providing a
useful alternative to too-short magazine articles and too-general
print books.
Ed. Unless bound and gagged, no self-respecting Mac devotee would miss this!
________________________
Raffle this month include quite a few books, all from Peachpit Press: Two titles by
presenter Adam Engst on topics he will discuss (Visual Quickstart Guide: iPhoto 5
for Mac OS X, and The Wireless Networking Starter Kit, Second Edition); two titles
from our own Robin Williams and John Tollet (The Little Mac Book - Panther Edition,
and Cool Mac Apps - 17 manuals in one book); a USB 2.0 Four Port Hub; an Ultra
ZipCord Retractable USB cable; and whatever else falls out of the sky between now
and the meeting!
Ed. Of all the duties connected with the SFMUG, the raffle
chairman is always under a lot of pressure to provide interesting gifts to
be raffled. Steve Zappe works hard throughout each month to find
worthwhile material for the raffle and we all appreciate his contribution.
Your purchase of raffle tickets allows this organization to raise necessary
funds in support of our outreach programs.
